Ainsworth Community School took 10 of their advanced Art students on a trip to the newly remodeled Museum of Nebraska Art and the University of Nebraska at Kearney's Art and Design building. The students interacted with four different art insulations in the MONA while on guided tours and collaborated with 5 other schools on the different exercises that they did while analyzing the exhibits. The students then went over to the University where they were able to sit in on different media demos in the Fine Arts building. They were able to watch the professors and other college students glass blow a blowfish, designer liner ceramic pieces, paint with light in the photography studio, and use a printpress to create UNK logos. After watching the demos the students were split up into two different media, 2D and 3D, to collaborate with other students from the different schools to create paintings, sculptures, poetry, and short stories. The students wrapped up the day by presenting their work to the teachers and staff. The students especially loved the chance to see the museum that wouldn't have been possible to tour until the next school year. They even got a sneak preview of the nearly completed Nebraska County Map that past Ainsworth Art students contributed to, which is to be permanently displayed in the MONA once finished.
