Mark your calendars for August 30th, which is designated as Betterment Day at ACS. This annual event holds significant importance for our communities. Betterment Day allows ACS youth to give back through various community service activities, fostering a sense of connection.
While we're looking forward to this event, we're also mindful of the recent heat wave's impact. Although temperatures are expected to cool by the end of the week, a midweek forecast indicates a potential return to 90-degree weather. This situation raises safety concerns, particularly for our students and staff.
To ensure the safety of everyone involved, we're closely monitoring the weather. A decision regarding the event will be made on Monday morning. We have three possible courses of action:
1. Proceed as planned on Wednesday, August 30th.
2. Conduct an abbreviated Betterment Day, adjusting activities to account for the heat.
3. Consider moving the event to an alternative date, specifically Wednesday, September 13th.
Our top priority remains the safety and wellbeing of our students and staff. We greatly appreciate your understanding as we navigate this decision-making process. Rest assured, we are committed to delivering a successful Betterment Day while keeping a watchful eye on everyone's welfare.
